Fire Restrictions Lifted for Nevada State Parks and Recreation Areas, Effective November 25th, 2024
Effective November 25th, the Nevada Division of Forestry will lift fire restrictions at all state parks and recreation areas. Year-round campfire restrictions will remain in effect for the four state parks in the Tahoe Basin, Spooner Lake and Backcountry, Van Sickle, Sand Harbor, and Cave Rock.
Under Year-Round Campfire restrictions, building, maintaining, attending, or using any type of fire—including wood, charcoal, or other materials—as well as campfires or stove fires, is only allowed outside developed campgrounds if:
- The fire is in an approved enclosure, or
- The fire is in a designated picnic area, or
- A valid permit is obtained when required.
Portable stoves that use gas, jellied petroleum, or pressurized liquid fuel are permitted.
State Park staff may impose additional restrictions based on current conditions, especially during “Red Flag” warnings issued by the National Weather Service
