Fire Restrictions Begin June 13 on Nevada State Lands and State Parks in Clark and Lincoln Counties.

Date
June 12 2025

Starting at 12:00 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025, fire restrictions will go into effect across all Nevada state lands, including state parks and recreation areas in Clark and Lincoln County. These restrictions are issued by the Nevada Division of Forestry’s State Forester/Firewarden to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires during wildfire season. These rules match the restrictions also being enforced by the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management.

Activities covered by these restrictions:

  • No campfires, charcoal grills, or open flames. You may only use portable stoves fueled by gas, jellied petroleum, or pressurized liquid fuel.

  • No smoking unless you’re inside an enclosed vehicle.

  • No welding or torch use unless you have a special permit.

  • No explosives unless permitted.

  • No fireworks, tracer rounds, steel-core ammo, or other incendiary devices.

  • No off-road driving or use of engines without approved spark arrestors.

  • No driving in wildland areas without carrying an ax, shovel, and at least one gallon of water.

  • No firearm use in areas where a Red Flag Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service.

Additional rule for Lincoln County state parks:
In Lincoln County, campfires and charcoal use are only allowed in developed campgrounds with approved fire enclosures or in designated picnic areas. Even in those areas, these activities may be further restricted when Red Flag conditions are in effect. Visitors should always check with State Park staff for current local restrictions.

Who’s exempt:

  • Anyone with a valid permit allowing the restricted activity.

  • Firefighters and law enforcement officers while performing official duties.

Enforcement and penalties:
Violating fire restrictions is a misdemeanor. Penalties include:

  • Fines up to $1,000

  • Up to six months in jail

  • Liability for the full cost of fire suppression and any damages

State parks and recreation areas may impose stricter rules based on local conditions, but they cannot be less restrictive than those listed here.

Everyone’s cooperation is critical to protecting Nevada’s landscapes, communities, and natural resources during wildfire season. Park Visitors should check parks.nv.gov for the most up-to-date fire restrictions before visiting.
