Shared Stewardship Partnership Releases 2025 Accomplishments Report
It has been seven years since the state of Nevada signed a historic Shared Stewardship Agreement, committing state and federal land management agencies to a common goal: Do the right work in the right places and at the right scale, to mitigate wildfire risks and enhance landscape resilience across Nevada.
Since then, Nevada’s Shared Stewardship Partners have made the most progress on cross-jurisdictional and multi-agency wildfire resilience and landscape restoration work in Nevada’s history. Approximately 537 thousand acres have been treated across 1,500 projects since 2021, with nearly 344 thousand acres (65%) accomplished within the last two years. These projects are planned and prioritized by the core partners, including:
- Bureau of Land Management,
- U.S. Forest Service,
- U.S Fish and Wildlife Service,
- USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service,
- Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources,
- Nevada Department of Agriculture
- Nevada Department of Wildlife
The Right Work, in the Right Places, at the Right Scale.
In 2020, the Nevada Shared Stewardship partners identified 13 areas as priority landscapes, based on several criteria, including wildfire risk, opportunities for inter-agency cooperation, and values at risk (e.g., watersheds, fish and wildlife habitat, impact on local industry, etc.). Field staff from all signatory agencies have established Landscape Planning Groups in ten out of 13 landscapes to evaluate, identify, and coordinate implementation of projects aligned with Shared Stewardship goals.
