Nevada Division of Forestry Opens Youth Range Camp Essay Competition for High School Students
High school-aged students across Nevada are invited to participate in the 2026 Nevada Youth Range Camp essay competition, sponsored by the Nevada Division of Forestry and the Nevada Section of the Society for Range Management. Selected essays will receive up to $250 to register for this year’s Youth Range Camp.

Ryan S. Shane Appointed to Lead the Nevada Division of Forestry
James Settelmeyer, Director of the Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), announced the appointment of Ryan S. Shane as Nevada’s State Forester Firewarden and Administrator of the Nevada Division of Forestry (NDF). Shane will be the ninth person to lead the agency since its inception in 1957.
