FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program

The FEMA HMGP is authorized by Section 404 of the Stafford Act is to ensure that opportunities to reduce the risk of loss of life and property from future disasters is not lost during the reconstruction process following a Presidential major disaster declaration. The HMGP provides funds to States, Territories, Indian Tribal governments, local governments, and eligible private non-profits (PNPs) in areas of the State requested by the Governor. Indian Tribal governments may also submit a request for a major disaster declaration within their impacted area.
