Washoe Conservation Nursery Announces Spring Opening on April 30th through May 2nd

Date
April 30 2026

The Nevada Division of Forestry (NDF) invites the public to the spring opening of the Washoe Conservation Nursery on Thursday, April 30 through May 2. Doors open at 9:30 AM on Eastlake Blvd.

“We are excited to greet new and returning customers for opening weekend,” said Cory King, “we will have over 80 native and adapted species that grow well in our region.” King has managed the Conservation Nurseries Program since 2022.

NDF’s conservation nursery program began in 1957. The program supports property owners and land management agencies pursuing a variety of goals, with emphasis on conservation and rehabilitation projects, such as erosion control and wildfire risk mitigation. Plants are typically sourced from locally-collected seed and cuttings.

“Locally grown plants are typically hardier than plants from outside the region. They’re better adapted to area conditions, like weather, soil, and precipitation.” King explains.

From April 30th through June 6th, the Washoe Nursery will be open Thursday through Saturday, 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM. They are located on Eastlake Blvd, approximately one mile from U.S Highway 395, right hand side on the north end of Washoe Valley. Customers are advised that there is ongoing construction on site and parking is limited.
