Facts and Clarifications: Las Vegas Green Industry Stimulus Fund Projects- The Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources clarified today recent reporting on stimulus fund projects in the Las Vegas area. News reports have cited low job creation and costs associated with the Clark County Urban Forestry Revitalization project. This program, carried out by the Nevada Division of Forestry, was one of a number of projects solicited by the federal government under the 2009 ARRA (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act).
NDF was given very short notice in 2009 to come up with a list of potential projects to be completed with ARRA funds. Many ARRA projects had to be carried out through state government agencies. The Nevada Division of Forestry could only create project proposals that fell within existing U.S. Forest Service program areas.
