Suppression
The Division of Forestry has direct wildland fire protection responsibility for 8.7 million acres of forest, range and watershed lands in Nevada. These lands are located within the Division of Forestry’s fire protection districts, which are a partnership with Carson City, Clark, Elko, Eureka and Storey counties.
The Division also provides rural fire protection and emergency services in the Mount Charleston, Eureka County and northeastern (Elko County) Fire Protection Districts.
The Division of Forestry assists local government fire protection districts with wildland fire protection on an additional 18.2 million acres. This assistance includes coordination of mutual aid, hazardous fuels reduction, fire prevention, and fire rehabilitation.
The Division also assists local government with response and recovery efforts for floods, earthquake and other natural disasters.
